Unemployment stress

I love to write just about anything that's on my mind. In the past I wrote editorials and sometimes just a journal-like stories.

As I am in my self-improvement phase, I wanted my writings to become meaningful. Meaningful to me is to help others.

This hopefully become a series. Series of self-improvement for others, a sort of motivator.

This one is about the unemployment stress.

When we lose a job, it depends on which stage in our life that we lose our job. As when we were young, we do not care that much and start to find a replacement. Some might want to continue do whatever and some wants to build a resume.

At the stage when you are over 40 or even almost 50 years old, you start to worry. And I get it! The competitions out there, demands of market, the cliché of job hunter; all this added the main stress that we feel.

It is normal to feel hurt, vulnerable, or angry after losing a job. The good news is that despite the stress of job loss and unemployment, there are many things you can do to take control of the situation and maintain your spirits.

You can get through this tough time by taking care of yourself, reaching out to others such as family and friends, and focusing on your goals in life.

Losing your job can also be an opportunity to take charge of your life, rethink of your career goals, and rediscover what truly makes you happy.

I know that losing job is stressful, because for most people it is much more than just the way we make a living. It influence how we see ourselves, as well as the way others see us. Our jobs give us structure, purpose, and meaning. That’s why job loss and unemployment is one of the most stressful things you can experience.

Beyond the loss of income, losing a job also comes with other major losses, such as
• Losing professional identity
• Losing self-esteem and self-confidence
• Losing our daily routine
• Losing a purposeful activity
• Losing our work-based social network
• Losing our sense of security

Angry, hurt, panicked, rejected are all of the normal emotions, and you have every right to be upset, so accept your feelings and go easy on yourself.

There are plenty successful people have experienced major failures in their careers, but they’ve turned those failures around by picking themselves up, learning from the experience, and try again.

These are the tips that I would suggest to deal with job loss and unemployment:
· Depression and anxiety will make it harder to be back to the job market, eliminate these! You can do it, be positive as it attracts positive outcome too!

· Deal about your feelings, especially when you get laid off in an insensitive way, express it in an open way by talking to someone you can talked to—make sure you let them know that you want to release this emotion.
· Accept this reality, you are unemployed and you need to be employed soon—because the soonest you do, you can get on with your life.

· Be easy on yourself, you are your best critics—don’t be that person! Instead, start to see what your strength as they are key to the next job that you’ll ace!

· Always look at the positive side of things! Look for that silver lining, maybe losing the job opens your eyes to what you want out of life, your career priorities, your happiness! Just look, and you will find something of value.

· Emit your anger will only cost you destruction's, there are people who feed on and enjoy the misfortune of others.

The next step:
· Be proactive, networking, reach out old contacts—make new contacts! These are the source of your new job.

· Let others know you are available, ready and willing!

· Do not be hesitant to take advantage of networking because you are afraid of being seen as pushy, annoying, or self-serving. Networking isn’t about using other people or aggressively promoting yourself—it’s about building relationships.

· You will rise! And you will, your natural reaction may be to withdraw out of embarrassment and shame or to resist asking for help out of pride this is when you have to avoid the tendency to isolate!

· Check out all of the resource in your area, locking yourself in the house will not help!

· Professional networking site, head hunter site, classifieds, and all that online business exchange in this digital era that you need to be on top of! Remember to always be presentable, negative vibes, negative comments, negative post—will NOT get you the job! What you put online, are seen by others and they expect a fantastic employee with superb resume, good positive behavior and excellent attitude!

· Keep track of your health! Balance workout with good nutritious food and good rest. This routine will keep you in good discipline.

· Another addition to routine is the job search, it will be a perfect time spent as if you are working. Focus and always be reminded that you can’t control how quickly a potential employer calls you back or whether or not they decide to hire you. Rather than wasting your precious energy on things that are out of your hands, turn your attention to things you can control during your unemployment, such as writing a great cover letter and resume tailored to the company you want to work for and setting up meetings with your networking contacts.

The umph step:
Pray and exercise your believe to the supreme being to grant you what you wish, and I am super sure that you will get what you wanted.
